Swing “Fore” the Center

Date: October 13, 2020

Where: Purpoodock Golf Club
300 Spurwink Avenue
Cape Elizabeth, ME 04107

Teams are signing on now for the Center’s annual Swing “Fore” the Center golf tournament and we hope you will be one of them! Our tournament will be held on October 13th, 2020 this year at Purpoodock Golf Club in Cape Elizabeth.

This year we are taking a number of precautions to promote the safety of our teams, volunteers, and staff. Please note the following changes to this year’s tournament:

  • While we will miss gathering all together, this year we will not be holding our post-event Awards Ceremony, however box lunches will still be provided!
  • We will be implementing tee times to encourage physical distancing on the course. Already signed on? We will be in touch with your team’s specific tee time in September. Starting times will range between 10am and 12pm. Golfers should plan to wait in their cars until it is time to head to their starting hole.
  • Each golfer’s swag bag will include a Center mask and hand sanitizer. Masks must be worn when using the club facilities and when sharing a golf cart with another player outside your household.
  • Lastly, we encourage golfers to purchase raffle tickets prior to the event. You can purchase yours today by clicking here!

Your registration includes: green fees, two carts, box lunches, and swag bags. Foursomes are also awarded entry into our hole-in-one contest.

Should we be unable to hold our tournament in October, the Center will instead host our annual tournament on May 18th, 2021.

This golf tournament has been held in memorium to Paul Gray, a Texas-born-and-raised golf lover, who had a distinguished 20-year career with Maine Medical Center and Maine Health. He was a Center board member, a strong advocate for our success, and served multiple community and professional organizations, who viewed the Center as a critical community resource. Paul died in March 2011, and his family generously agreed to let the Center create a charitable tournament to memorialize him.
