Volunteer Peer Support Model
Since its inception in 1988, The Center for Grieving Children has been a pioneer in using the Volunteer Peer Support Model. Peer Support, using well-trained volunteers, offers an economically feasible approach to working with young people, families, and the community in many different settings and programs. Join us and learn through hands on -experience how to make the Volunteer Peer Support Model work for your organization while you enjoy a week of self-care and nurture in beautiful Portland, Maine!
Peer Support as taught by The Center for Grieving Children, is an excellent model for any program, classroom, or agency that seeks to address the needs of children and families in transition.
"I could not have been more impressed with the integrity of The Center for Grieving Children, the training and the staff." - Volunteer Facilitator Trainee
“This fabulous training experience laid the groundwork for us in giving us a model to follow in our subsequent trainings. We still draw from and reflect on that experience in order to inform ourselves further, as do our volunteers.” -Pat Smith, Co-Director The Alcove - Center for Grieving Children and Families, N
