Mull Family

As Jen Mull spent a hard day back to school shopping with her 9-year old daughter Casey, she fought the memories of her daughter Stephanie who had died about a year before. As they left the store, Jen was surprised to learn that Casey, now the age Stephie was when she died, was scared that she too, was going to die.

It was at this time I realized I had no idea what I was doing when it came to dealing with my children’s grief. I realized I had been so wrapped up in my own grief I hadn’t been paying close enough attention to what they needed. I immediately sought help from The Center for Grieving Children.

At that point, our family was falling apart at the seams. Our oldest daughter Maddie was keeping a protective stiff upper lip, Casey was imploding and our two toddlers, little Charlie and Livvie were showing the effects of their distracted and somewhat destroyed family.

I tell everyone about The Center. While we were there we grew to a point where we respected each other’s grieving process, and also learned the importance of respecting our own. We continue to draw on what we learned at The Center to guide our family through our grief. Words cannot express how grateful we are to have had the opportunity to be a part of The Center for Grieving Children. I don’t even want to think of where we’d be now without it.
